In my beautiful dreams I bathe in the light of the night's pearl. The illumination of the night keeps me safe, but from what?
I fear you, darkness.
I fear the sounds you make in the night.
I fear what lurks within you.
I fear you, darkness.
In my waking hour I shiver from the chill of the nights winds. The freezing cold air leaves me vulnerable, but to what?
I fear you, darkness.
I fear the dark figures that call you home.
I fear your consumption of my sight.
In my restless dreams, I see everything in the darkness; the creatures and people whom frighten me, but then I awake.
The morning sun shining across the room, and youre gone. I feel safe and secure, but only until your next arrival.
Why should I fear you, darkness?
Because I do not know what you hold?
Because I do not know what you hide?
Because I cannot see what you are?
Because I know nothing of you?
Perhaps I was quick to judge you, darkness. For I know nothing of you. Maybe tonight I will step into the shadows and see if there truly is anything to be scared of.
